Honza from the Paint Shop: From Internship to a Full‑Time Role
Honza is a graduate of the Robotics program at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at VSB Technical University of Ostrava. Today, he works as a Junior specialist in Development engineering at Paint shop. His story did not begin with an employment contract, but with a one‑year internship.

🤖 “Robotics just made the most sense to me”
Why did you choose robotics?
“I’ve been into bikes and machines since I was a kid, and through motorcycles I gradually got into technology as a whole. At university, the Department of Robotics appealed to me the most, mainly because of the interesting courses and hands‑on classes. The connection between theory and practice is what eventually brought me to Hyundai.”

🎓 An internship that makes sense
How did you find out about the internship at HMMC?
“It was at the Kariéra+ job fair. After the fair, I thought I would give it a try. I sent my CV, went through the selection process, and in the end I got an internship offer at Paint shop.”

Why Paint shop specifically?
“It might not seem like it, but there are a huge number of robots in Paint. And that is exactly where I wanted to be.”

What was your internship like? What did you work on?
“My internship was not just about observing. I was involved in real work from the very beginning.
I monitored material consumption and operational values on robots, took part in adjustments to the skid cleaning workstation, and I also had the chance to participate in robot teaching.
That was great. Guiding a robot through points I defined myself was something I really enjoyed and it pushed me forward.”

📘 Experience you cannot replace
What experience did you have before joining?
“I had experience from a student competition where we worked on the design and configuration of robotic scanners. But I had never experienced the kind of hands‑on practice I got at HMMC.”

🚀 From internship to full time
“Already during my internship, I knew that if I got a full‑time offer, I would take it. After finishing university, I wanted to start working full time, and this was my opportunity.
I genuinely enjoy this job. I like the team I work with, and I feel that I can grow here and learn something new every day.”
What myth would you like to challenge?
“That working in a corporate environment is all about rules and anonymity. In reality, it is about people and teams.”

🎁 What do you see as the positives or benefits?
“Definitely the great food, wide range of learning opportunities, and a modern working environment. A big advantage is also the stability and security that Hyundai provides.”
🚴♂️ What is Honza like outside of work?
“When I have free time, I like to go out on my motorcycle or ride my bike. At home, I spend time with my girlfriend and family. Sometimes I go for a run or watch hockey.”
